Overview:
James and Gretel will be scanning the horizon exploring the impact of the increase in securities claims and the integration of AI into business operations in the context of D&O insurance.
James Sharpe:
James has particular expertise in insurance matters. He regularly acts for and advises insureds and insurers in respect of insurance policies. James advises upon and litigates all insurance related disputes, including D&O, PI, PL & EL, product liability, and Warranty and Indemnity policy disputes;
dealing with insolvent insureds and insurance companies; subrogated recovery claims; and all coverage disputes. James also acts for brokers in professional negligence claims.
Gretel Scott:
Gretel Scott is a dynamic barrister practising in all areas of commercial law. This includes civil fraud, banking, and commercial litigation and arbitration, but also art and cultural property law, insolvency and soft intellectual property. Gretel’s recent instructions range from freezing injunctions and jurisdiction challenges in large cases involving allegations of fraud, to a variety of ongoing enforcement action in the High Court, and trials in the County Courts.
Gretel moved to the Bar having previously qualified as a solicitor at Slaughter and May. Whilst at Slaughter and May, she acted for one of the insurers in the FCA Test Case. She retains an active interest in insurance disputes work at the bar alongside her other banking, fraud and art law cases. Gretel has also spent a year as the judicial assistant to Lord Briggs in the Supreme Court. Gretel is equally confident acting as sole counsel, and as part of a team.
