One year after Brazil’s new Insurance Law came into force, the market is now dealing with a new wave of regulation that is reshaping how Brazilian risks are reinsured, as well as how property and casualty insurance is written. In this follow-up to our 2025 session, we will look at the key regulatory developments and impacts for the London market, focusing on:

The new reinsurance regulation (CNSP Resolution No. 494): the new framework for reinsurance, retrocession, co-insurance and insurance placed abroad, which replaces Resolution No. 451/2022, including rules regarding reinsurers’ participation in claims adjustment, tacit acceptance, advance payment of recoveries, preferential offers and deadlines.

P&C insurance (CNSP Resolution No. 496): a single contractual framework, the end of the “large risks” regime and new claims adjustment rules.

What’s next: draft regulations under public consultation on requirements for reinsurance proposals and on publishing arbitral decisions.

This follow-up seminar is a must-attend for anyone involved in risks placed in the Brazilian insurance and reinsurance market, offering practical insight into how the new regulatory framework works and what it means for wordings, placement and claims.
