The BILA Charitable Trust has arranged with the kind support of BILA a Memorial Lecture to be delivered on Wednesday 6 November 2024 in the Old Library, Lloyd’s of London to mark the passing and lifelong contribution made to insurance law, BILA and to the BILA Charitable Trust by Professor Malcolm Clarke, who died on 5 April 2024 at the age of 81.
The Lecture will be delivered by Sir Stephen Males on the subject of “Interpreting Insurance Contracts”. Sir Stephen studied law at St John’s College, Cambridge under the supervision of Professor Clarke and who since 2019 has sat in the Court of Appeal. Also invited are all past winners of the BILA Book Prize, which was twice awarded to Professor Clarke. Among those winners are former students of Professor Clarke.
The BILA Book Prize for 2024 is to be awarded after the Lecture has been delivered.
