Steven McEwen advises on the law and regulation that applies to insurers and reinsurers, with a focus on regulatory capital, investments and finance. His recent experience has involved a significant amount of advice to insurers on their preparation for and implementation of Solvency II. He has worked on numerous insurance M&A transactions and pension de-risking transactions, and he also advises regularly on the law and practice in the Lloyd’s insurance market. He has written for a number of publications, including chapters on the regulation of long-term insurance in “A Practitioner’s Guide to the Regulation of Insurance” (Thomson Reuters, 2014) and on the Solvency II rules on reinsurance and collateral in “A Practitioner’s Guide to Solvency II” (Thomson Reuters, 2016).
