She was appointed a QC (now KC) in 2011 and became a Deputy High Court Judge in 2015.
Since her appointment to the High Court in 2017, she has served across the King’s Bench Division, including as Judge in Charge of the Commercial Court. In 2025, she was appointed a Lady Justice of Appeal and subsequently Deputy Head of Civil Justice. Alongside her distinguished judicial career, she is also a published author of leading legal and historical works.
BILA is honoured to welcome Lady Justice Cockerill as President and looks forward to her guidance as we continue to advance excellence in insurance law.
