Christopher Cardona
Christopher is head of HFW’s insurance and reinsurance global group. He specialises in high-value international dispute resolution in the insurance and reinsurance sector, acting for international and London market insurers, reinsurers and brokers and advises on policy issues, product development and policy wordings. He is bi-lingual in English and Spanish and is particularly well known for his extensive work in the Latin American markets.
He is ranked in Band 1 as a leading lawyer Latin America wide by Chambers 2018. Chambers Latin America highlights his “deep expertise of the Spanish-speaking markets in Latin America”. Chambers Latin America acknowledges that Christopher is “very knowledgeable” and says that “The advice he gives is always very sound and explained in an easy manner that a layman can understand.”
Geoffrey Conlin
Geoffrey has been based in the firm’s Sao Paulo office since February 2013. He acts mainly for international insurers, reinsurers and brokers based in Europe and Latin America. He specializes in resolving complex, cross-border claims, principally arising from property, energy (onshore and offshore), casualty, marine and D&O risks.
Geoffrey has acted on cases in most jurisdictions in the region. He has extensive experience in Ports & Terminals ins/reinsurance and has coordinated the licensing of a number of reinsurance companies entering the Latam market.
He is a member of the British Insurance Law Association and is recommended in the Chambers Latin America directories, with clients highlighting his “very direct knowledge and understanding of the local markets besides all the insurance coverage issues” and “his good feel for what clients need during insurance and reinsurance disputes”. He is also recommended as one of Brazil’s leading insurance and reinsurance lawyers in Who’s Who Legal: Brazil 2017.
