Steven is a Partner in Hogan Lovells’ corporate and regulatory insurance team. He has advised on insurance law and regulation since 2002, specialising in matters involving insurance M&A, reinsurance, the Lloyd’s insurance market, prudential regulation and insurance finance. He has extensive experience of transactions relating to the insurance market, including bulk annuity and longevity reinsurance contracts, funds at Lloyd’s arrangements, capital markets and financing transactions and Part VII transfers. He is recognised as a Leading Individual for non-contentious insurance in Legal 500 UK and Chambers UK.
Steven is co-author of the chapter on the regulation of long-term insurance in “A Practitioner’s Guide to the Regulation of Insurance” (Thomson Reuters, 2014) and co-author of the chapter on reinsurance and collateral in “A Practitioner’s Guide to the Regulation of Solvency II” (Thomson Reuters, 2016). He is a member of the Insurance Scoping Forum of the Financial Markets Law Committee. He has previously given lunchtime lectures to the British Insurance Law Association in February 2012 and September 2016.
He is qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales and as an attorney in New York. He is studying for a degree in mathematics through The Open University in his spare time, of which he has much less since the birth of his daughter Sophie in September 2017.
